I read this in one sitting, and I can't remember the last time that's happened. Started reading this during dinner and just didn't put it down until I'd finished. It's a horror thriller that reminded me a bit of early Stephen King: some subgroup of the American population turn extremely violent very suddenly and the book follows a family on the run as they constantly try to avoid being murdered. Very violent, gory in places. There was some gender role stuff I didn't love ("be a man and protect your family the way a man is supposed to" talk). The kids were fairly annoying and one of them casually uses the r-slur in one instance. I would not say that the characters were well developed.
Bottom line, even though this is objectively kind of trashy, I could not put it down.
