The writing was okay. The relationship was cute. We get it though, you think Sam is cute/hot. It did not need repeating every 10 seconds. It sometimes just made sections drag on because it was so repetitive. The twist and the ending were predictable. It was all cute though. Not typically my genre. Also, the Sue plot line was something I would have loved to know more about, but that’s a heavy series of topics.

3.75 because the ending wasn’t satisfying to me. We spent SO much time in the past setting with these long chapters, and I felt like we got barely any time in the present. The entire reconciliation after the big reveal happened in one chapter, and then it was the epilogue. I was so much more invested in Sam and Percy as kids than I was in them as adults. With another 50 pages it could’ve been 5 stars

I feel like Percy is sort of a cowardly main character. Didn’t hit me til the end but definitely found it annoying throughout the book:
