I almost DNF-ed this halfway through but I’m glad I didn’t. Yes the pacing is very slow and a lot of the book is a woman telling you about farm work, but I think - if you can lean into that - this is a very beautiful book that has a lot to say.

I will also just echo many other reviews, men ruin everything.

Depressingly cozy

As an invisible wall rises an other starts to crumble.

The wall, or in this case 'Le mur invisible', is the tale of a lone woman in a (not so) man less world of her own, stuck in a limbo between a selfish past human existence she rejects and a selfless future within an all encompassing nature she fears. Based on its story and my rating : the odd middle child, right behind "I who have never known men" and slightly above "Annihilation".
Oddly enough, I find this one to be the most complete of the 3 in all that it tries to explore and contain, which makes sense considering both its page count and the rather simplicity of its premise and plot.
