Definitely my favorite out of the cosmere short stories!!!! I think the characters are so so fascinating and great! I absolutely love the world and I really hope we get to see more of it someday!

I feel the same way about this novella as I felt about Emperor's Soul, unexpectedly fantastic writing that I wish was a full length novel but also I totally don't because it's such a well crafted little story that starts off running and wraps up neatly, what more could you want?

I really liked this short Cosmere story! It is essentially a Western, bounty hunter story that is set in a scary forest with ghosts that will kill you if you don’t follow the simple rules. I actually haven’t seen A Quiet Place, but it reminds me of that sort of thing. You’re mostly safe unless you start a fire, or even worse, draw blood.

Overall, these two elements mixed together really works for me, and is definitely my type of story. Sanderson mentions we may get more of this world in the future, and I would love a full length novel set here.

Pretty cool. Comfortably spooky.

Not gonna lie, the concept of this one hyped me up, but ultimately fell kind of short. Maybe it was the wrong time to read this, but I was not immersed in the story to be completely satisfied. Still liked it though, might do a reread for a different reading mood and perspective.

This is a very good and underrated novella that no one talks about. It's very simple but delivers so perfectly on what it set out to do that I really can only admire it. Have a few little issues that I can't really get into without spoilers, but my only major one is that this isn't a full length book. I really want to see more of this world, and these characters that this follows. Silence was such a good and well written character that I was really shocked by how short this was because of how well developed she was. This even had a really neat message about folklore and how urban myths are formed. The magic want substantial but very unique. Honestly the only thing that holds it back from a 5 because this doesn't feel quite like a whole story.

Current Cosmere ranking:
1. Oathbringer
2. The Way of Kings
3. Rhythm of War
4. Warbreaker
5. Words of Radiance
6. Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell
7. Dawnshard
8. Sixth of the Dusk
9. Edgedancer
