I got this book as a kid, and I distinctly remember flipping through it, though I'm not sure if I'd actually read it front to back before now. At any rate, the book is two decades old, and it shows its age, both in the fact that it uses only the most traditional of statistics, and in the fact that the discussion of the greatest shortstops has changed so dramatically since the early '90s as a result of the careers of Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Nomar Garciaparra, Miguel Tejada, and Michael Young, to name only a few. Nonetheless, the anecdotes are entertaining, and it's quickly and easily readable, so it still holds some interest, especially if you grew up with some of these players.
