Really enjoyed this book - Julia Quinn has never let me down! I also always love a hero named Sebastian. . .

3 stars ✨ I liked sebastian a great deal as a character but I think the structure of this novel just wasn't for me. lots of internal dialogue and simply way too many chapters of the heroine trying to decide if she should prioritize herself (and as a result stay far away from a grimy old man) or her family. we already know you love him sweetie just make a choice! could have been much shorter. while many scenes were graphic and disturbing they were not out of the realm of reality for historical.

Not as good as the rest of the series, but still enjoyable.

Updated review (2021):

Still hilarious. From the perspective of being self-partnered and middle-aged, I don’t consider it misfortune, but I still adore the grandmother, just perhaps not as goals.

Original review (2013):

4 laugh out loud and snort moments

If I have the misfortune to end up single & old I plan to be like the grandmother, sans the children or grandchildren part.
