It teased me with cliches and then surprised me in the end. I rolled my eyes a lot, but it's a comforting and entertaining read. I appreciated the light touch of romance without any deep dives. The focus was on mystery and magic within mundane life. My favorite character was Celeste, and I really hope the author does a series with her as the protagonist.

Moderate: Death, Gun violence, and Infidelity
Minor: Blood, Emotional abuse, Gore, Grief, and Infertility
The author uses inappropriate relationships between older men and barely-adult women as the reason for keeping their relationships secret. That would've been fine, I guess, but then one of the characters tries to make excuses for their relationship in a super-cringey, unnecessary moment near the end of the book. That's the only complaint I've got with this book; the author really didn't need to do that.
