I’m not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed. The plot was predictable, the main character always bragged about herself, and the romance (a very personal opinion) had no real connection. There were many times I found myself getting exasperated with Alosa for not figuring things out faster when they seemed so obvious. I was so excited to read this book but it let me down quite a bit.

Enjoyable pirate story with a twist. I enjoyed the main character, but the MMC wasn't really believable. Quite a lot of violence.

Another take on the little mermaid but if she was a pirate. I loved this!

The story and concept was good, however I found the writing to fall a tiny bit flat. We were being told emotions and thoughts instead of being shown them and some parts of the book felt rushed. I feel like there could have been a better build up of the relationship between the two main characters, it felt like we kind of just jumped into a semi pre established relationship instead of a first meeting and build up of that repour. It was an okay book but not one I will carry on thinking about.

This was a fun read with a great main character, but the romance massively let the book down. No chemistry, no intrigue, and the love interest had zero personality other than being a "nice guy".

Every book has ways it could be better and this one is no different. However, this book singlehandedly took me out of a reading slump and reminded me why I love reading so much. All of the characters were genuinely lovable (or hateable) and the plot was fantastically thought out and developed. Truly a wonderful book that I know I'll come back to.
