“The petals, they close at night, only to open again the next day. It’s like coming out of darkness and finding the light again.”

Oh, this book!

Did you ever have a book you really really liked, but there was one ick that made it hard to stay in the moment ?

I loved Say you swear (put me in a reading slump), and was right into Promise me not. EXCEPT for one major ick.

His nickname for her. Every time he said the nickname (Pretty Little) I was removed from the moment like a smack in the face. And to be clear; every couple pages “Pretty Little” came out and wrecked the moment.

Other than that, a big YES to Mason and Payton’s story. Lots of big and beautiful tears for this book!

This was such a letdown. Everything was too dramatic and the relationship between Mason and Payton was all over the place and took forever to progress.

Corny writing and overused pet names aside, this book didn’t deliver the angst and romance the way Say You Swear did.

I get annoyed when MCs do everything in their power to avoid talking about their feelings, even if it means you end up hurting someone and I feel like with Payton, this dragged for way too long.

I can’t think of one significant moment in this book that didn’t feel contrived or written for the sole purpose of adding more unnecessary drama that didn’t lead to anything.

Overall, this was way too sappy and melodramatic, but boring at the same time.
