Meagan Brady is the angst Queen, every one of her books is a hit in the solar plexus.
The fact that the first book in this series knocked me off my feet made me resistant to this one but I'm glad I read it even it made me want to tear my hair out and scream multiple times
There is always so much angst and less togetherness and more yearning than my heart could take but HEA almost makes all that pain worth it
this was a 4.5 star for me.
Why not 5, you ask?
Well Jeanne, let me explain. I loved this book. Ate it up and sobbed.
But Mason & Payton didn't make me feel the feels that Ari & Noah gave me.
At some times it was a bit repetetive (on Payton's side) and the clue that eventually made her listen to her heart and brain, was something we all catched on 20-ish chapters ago.
I get the selfpreverence, I was a single mom at the birth of my first born too, and I met my now husband when she was only a few weeks old, so in certain ways, I can identify.
But damn, sometime she was clueless.
I Loved how Mason was portraited, but he also went always back in a circle.
Ofcourse, these characters are very young.
Regarding Chase, i felt it coming again. I was ready to dive in and beat his scrawny ass, but he redeemed himself, so he's good (for now).
Overall, I really enjoyed the book, but give me Ari & Noah anytime!

I wouldn’t say this book was bad but there was so much stuff that happened that was just unnecessary. I get that Allana and Alistair were probably to set up for Cameron’s story but I don’t really understand why Allana was involved in Masons so much for it to be a lie anyway.
Peyton was annoying as hell for most the book, I get she was grieving and felt guilty but my god I did not need that many chapters of her whining. I love Mason but god he’s possessive and pretty much an idiot most of the times, yeah Chase was a dick when it came to Ari but it was blatantly obvious nothing was going on with him and Peyton and that they both just needed a friend.
I had such high hopes for this book because I loved Say You Swear which is probably why I’ve rated so harshly but it just wasn’t even on the same level. Those last two chapters were so pointless to the story especially when previously the book had 0 spice to it.
If Cameron or Chases book is next I’ll be happy. As much as I hated Chase in say you swear that boy deserves some happiness. Secretly hoping Brady and Cameron end up together because it’s so obvious by how much more protective he is of her that he has a thing for her and it would be nice to see some of the original group end up together.

If you’re a fan of Say You Swear like me, you were probably impatiently waiting for Mason’s story. I’ll admit, I was worried no other MB character could live up to Noah Riley. But wow—Daddy Mason did not disappoint. I already liked him in SYS, even with how overprotective he was of Ari, so I was eager to dive into his story. Watching him go from being all about football to being all about Deaton (and Payton) was such a difficult yet beautiful journey. He really fought hard for his happily ever after, and that’s where my main issue comes in.
Unfortunately, I found Payton to be one of the most frustrating female leads I’ve ever encountered. While I understood her grief, her self-serving behavior with both Mason and Chase was infuriating. She basically used them when it was convenient, only to later have an epiphany like, “Oh, he really loves me and my son? I didn’t realize that!” I call BS—being young is one thing, but she wasn’t naive in all the ways that mattered to her.
That being said, the story was sweet, heartbreaking, and filled with everything I love about Meagan’s writing. The secondary characters were perfection, and I have to admit, Chase redeemed himself—at least a little—in this one. I can’t wait to catch up with the gang again in future books!
