Promise Me Not

emotional reflective medium-paced

Unfortunately, I think my expectations were sky-high because of Say You Swear, so this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The miscommunication—I hated it, and not only that, but to bring Chase back into the mix with assumptions flying around was a bit much. Chase is a good friend, but I can see why people might be frustrated with him in this book, especially after what happened in the first book. Also, the nickname—Pretty Little—was so wack. I was so tired of it 😂

Anyway, moving on to the things I enjoyed. The angst—I loved the angst! I couldn’t help but imagine myself in Payton’s shoes, it had me feeling so emotional. Mason’s sense of dread was utterly heartbreaking. And Mason with Little Deaton? Absolutely adorable! I love, love, love the snippets of Noah and Ari! I adore those two 🥹🫶🏼

Cameron’s story is next, y’all! I’m guessing it’s another love triangle, and I don’t know how I feel about that, because I’m not really a fan of love triangles anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️ ‎

I did like this book and I love Mason but he isn’t Noah Riley. Not sure anything will ever top Say You Swear to me. This book was emotional and had you on the edge the whole time. I’m not a fan of time jumps but I get the need for it in this book I guess. I will say I wish they did have more time together in current day in the end. The ending was so fast after they got together

❝All I know is if before I was against doing something a little less than honorable to get what I wanted, I’m not anymore. You’ll never change the score if you don’t dare to make the pass, right?❞

My feelings on this book are split down the middle, that seems to be the only way I can describe it. Overall I enjoyed reading their story, I was so looking forward to it actually. Being back at the beach and Avix U was great, seeing the group again and getting more of their lives, amazing. Giving us more Noah and Ari, I felt pure happiness. I even loved the emotional wreck I was while grieving right along with Payton, and cheering her on. Now Mason, there really are no words, he literally just gave us Everything, I will hear no complaints. This is more of a story about loss, grief, and love, but what I really missed and needed was more of a romantic love and relationship after everything they went through. They got there finally, and then it ended, and I just wanted to see them happy a little bit longer.
