This one surprised me. I enjoyed trying to catch the foreshadowing and guess how it would all connect, and while I came close, I didn't have all the pieces.
I appreciated all the ways family dynamics, relationships, and choices were given room to breathe. To be complex, imperfect, and layered.
For a thriller, it's got an unusually positive tone and theme that I found refreshing. The epilogue chapters are especially touching, and imperfect.
I expected a story filled with horror tropes and unrealistic plot, but it's surprisingly down-to-earth and focused more on the characters, which I appreciated.
That said, there is some language (appropriate when you consider the circumstances, but still). There are also a few scenes that, while very short, are steamy. And of course, being a thriller, there is violence, not overly graphic.

I didn't quite enjoy this one. It was a great premise and the way DNA was worked into it was unique, at least to me. But I don't think it was really executed that well and found myself generally apathetic.
