It's pretty fantastic. Definitely a product of the sixties, or Agatha's reactio to it. The twist brings out some interesting moments from earlier in the book. Good setting, great characters, great voice.

Although I guessed what was going on fairly early, that didn’t ruin my appreciation of how Christie slowly builds suspense. Then, at the very end, the novel took a turn I didn’t expect. To see my complete review, check out this link: https://whatmeread.com/2024/07/08/review-2451-endless-night/

Classic unreliable narrator. I did begin to suspect the twist as the clue was in the inconsistencies, but I wasn’t fully convinced of my theory. The book is very slow to get going, but once it’s on its way it gains momentum very quickly - this technique did build the suspense as the reader knew that ‘something’ bad was going to happen but not exactly what. Very clever how the writing style also unravels in the final pages to show the protagonist’s downward mental spiral.
