Quite a twisted murder tale. It is a bit of a slow burn, but I enjoyed it.

Sorry, Auntie Aggie, but this one didn't work for me. The gypsy stereotypes clearly didn't age well, so the racism is hard to get past. But more importantly, I found it boring. Nothing really happens until the last third, and there isn't much suspense, tension, or mystery for over 150 pages. I wouldn't have stuck with it if it weren't Agatha Christie, but it took me far longer to read than it should have.
SpoilerThe twists at the end were fine, if a bit predictable in this era of psychological suspense, and carried the whole book.

Agatha gets me every single time!
dark mysterious tense
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I had an issue with the pace a bit. Cause it builds up very slowly, up to the last pages, where everything is revealed (and at that point I remembered that I saw the adaptation, that had a different pace).
Dark, very dark in the end.

How could I ever think this novel was boring?
Although it has a slow start, the end more than makes up for it.
I'm not giving any spoilers, just a warning. It's not a peacefull Christie book to read before going to bed. The end will drive you nuts.
LOVED it.

what’s the point of a mystery book if im going to guess everything

damn, agatha got me good!

3.5! Such a different Christie story, first person POV and rather dark!

This was the first non-Poirot/Marple book I've read by Christie. It really created a spooky vibe/a semi horror feel. Glad to have read it.

I enjoyed reading another Agatha Christie but this just wasn't it. It had really exciting bits and then it was dragging and then exciting and then dragging. I was hoping it would be something else but it was just not meant to be. I will continue with Christie and find some more gems
