Easy read, formulaic but enjoyable.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I love a confident thicc queen.

The plot has holes in it for sure, but what do you expect with smut?

I was a little nervous when the book started to veer into the
pregnancy trope, but thankfully that’s not how it ended. I really dislike that trope.

This was a very fun retelling. I enjoy the world of Dark Olympus that Katee has created. I love that this book has a fat heroine who gets a full arc, personality, and life story that is not centered around her weight. However, there is one anti-fat comment made by the villain.

The cast is fairly diverse, and we get to see characters that have already been established in "Neon Gods".

The spice was SPICY and the heat was HOT. I am living for the communication in the main relationship. I love that things like sexual history, sexual expectations, and what they are looking for/needing is covered early on. It made it all feel more grounded, but still sexy and fun.

This was my first fantasy book and I really enjoyed the theme of living in Olympus and having the characters be modern greek mythology but when I was actually reading the book I got a little bored in the middle because there were a lot of “spicy” scenes/chapters. I also feel like most of the book was just leading up to the ending that was only two pages long (if that makes any sense) Even though it was kind of slow in the middle it picked back up again in the end and the ending made me really happy :)

Honestly my fav Katee Robert book so far and I have read A LOT of her books. I am such a fan of the “irredeemable”, possessive, storm cloud male character matched with a sunshiny, trying not to have feels, smart female character. It is niche but totally my fav pairing and Katee writes it so well. Also her diversity with characters is effortless without being a big deal. Are there a lot of white characters? Yes. But the diversity of the rest of the cast is not like “oh look at me being diverse!” It is just normal which I appreciate. A great sequel to Neon Gods and I think I actually prefer this one. Much spicer and the “marriage of  convenience trope but they fall in love” gets me every time.
