This book was overwhelming to say the least. I am usually fine when it comes to reading books with very dark themes, but this was too much for me. When I finished it, I definitely regretted reading it, but thinking on it, it certainly set new boundaries for me when it came to serious topics. If thinking about reading PLEASE read the trigger warnings before, I went into this blind and I kind of regret it. Definitely a book I will only ever read once.

This book is forever known as the trauma book to my friends and I. DO NOT read if you have sensitivities to sexual assault, especially between adult and child. This book hits hard and it has graphic details of crimes in it. It heavily details mental trauma and mental illness in the main character.

I read this book after watching the movie (which goes against everything I typically am), hoping that it would provide more insight into the character or the ending. Honestly, I thought the adaptation was faithful enough and better-paced. As always, King is great in building tension and god, did I squirm while reading

the degloving scene

but overall, I felt the conclusion of the book was just fine.

I was warned that this is one of King's less enjoyed books, but I can't say that I agree. It was well written, executed perfectly and I didn't experience the usual demeaning style usually found when woman are written by men. It was amazing and a defenate recommendation to lovers of slow-paced, character based stories with upsetting themes.
