I had a lot of fun with this book. As someone who has read Dracula, I liked picking out links between the two stories. I also enjoyed the sapphic ‘subtext’, being included in a piece of literature this old. I wouldn’t say the plot is at all groundbreaking for modern readers, but it was a quick and entertaining read that I got through in a single sitting, so I can’t really fault it.
