I judge all Greek mythology adaptations by Mary Renault and very few measure up. This was an okay read. I'm actually giving it 3 1/2 stars. The last 20 pages earned it an extra half a star.

I would’ve liked it better if it was entirely about Medusa and not so much about Perseus. It felt in opposition to the overall message of the book. But overall, I liked it.

Nice retelling of Medusa’s story partly from her perspective and partly from the perspective of Perseus. A bit lacking in depth, but carrying a great message that who we think are monsters are not always monsters and heroes are not always heroes. It all depends on who tells the story.
