An incredibly amusing collection of myths and legends. Dan Jones has clearly done his research, giving even the most familiar myths an unexpected spin, and my to-read list expanded with every chapter. Jones has dedicated himself to documenting gay history and that really comes through via the sources he uses and the books he recommends.

There's also a lot of laughs, as Jones reframes mythical figures as twunks, zaddys, service tops and thirsty bottoms. I do wish it had been published as a bigger, bright, illustrated, coffee-table type book, but hopefully this text-version will get enough readers that the publishers consider a second, flashier edition.

A fun quippy look through ancient myth and legends for queer heroes. After having read The song of Achilles, I wondered if there were more queer stories I hadn't heard of. I remember learning about Zeus and his philandering and Aphrodite inspiring lust in all who saw her. So why not? This book provided exactly what I was looking for. The short profiles gave me an insight into where we might see indications of queerness, where previously these had been sanitised. An enjoyable read that I will definitely be referring back to!
