Oh my heart! I loved reading this and having a little sneak peak at some hidden queer parts of stories that were covered up/hidden! This book is good to turn to if you want to look up some queer mythology/media. There are spoilers in here though, so be careful.

Having greatly enjoyed Queer Villians of Myth and Legend, I did go into this book with high expectations, and Dan Jones delivers! He shows heroes, both well-known and in the shadows of time and fiction, through queer lenses. I also love how Jones sees through the pop culture versions of these heroes returning to their origins and puts his own spin on them with his humour, wit and tidbits of information that add to the mythos of each hero.
Overall, Dan Jones has created another fun and witty book about the queerness of history and mythology. Queer Heroes of Myth and Legend is perfect for any fans of Mythology and History.
Thank you, NetGalley and Octopus Publishing for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

*3.5 - looses 0.5 for lack of asexual spectrum rep.
Fascinating to learn about queer figures from myths & popular books/media. I totallly missed that Zeus had male lovers, i was focused on his horrible treatment of his female lovers & their children (& Hera's worsening of the situation).
I was disappointed by the lack of asexual spectrum people. I thought for sure they'd mention asexuals when talking about The Doctor from Doctor Who, who i always felt was demisexual.
It was great to read about so many trans/ gender nonconforming figures - like Shikhandi. In their section i also loved learn more about the hijra (Indian's third gender) & how truly ancient to group is & yet still terribly mistreated.
It was so to see to constantly reminded that though a country/ religion may have had gods that were queer/ somewhere else on the gender spectrum, that didn't mean that regular people in that country/ religion were able to be the same, especially not openly & with the same basic rights as heternormative people.
