I really enjoyed this novel. I liked the main character and her mentor. I liked how her mission kept evolving into something more.

I really enjoyed reading this book, but I'm confused if this is the beginning of a new series or a standalone. If it is standalone, I would be disappointed. I felt the book only hinted the chemistry between the two characters but the romance was not adequately addressed in the story, so the ending felt a little awkward. There are also questions about their interesting connection that was not discussed in the book...

I loved this book so much. It sucked me in and didn't let me go until the very end. It is so relatable. Cora's friend is captured so she does what she needs to in order to also be captured in order to save her friend. Things go sideways when she is told instead of being put in the dungeon she has to compete to be the storm mage they need. Cora is a great character who you root for from the very beginning. I will be continuing the series without a doubt.
