Pining: A slow-burn, friends-to-lovers holiday romance by Stephanie Rose

DNF 29%. I found both protagonists a bit immature and not very interesting - but I think me being 10 years older than them impacts my ability to empathise. The male lead felt underdeveloped despite an interesting backstory of being wrongfully sent to prison and the female lead didn't get much of a backstory in the amount I read - which made it feel imbalanced overall. The writing didn't seem that great either - I've read some of Stephanie Rose's other books and have enjoyed them a lot so this surprised me.

The writing didn't click with me. Also, Pining felt like a lighter version of The Butterfly Project by Emma Scott.
