This gets above half way rating because the format was awesome and I wish more books were like this

I saw this recommended on Reddit ages ago and it’s been a real trouble to find a copy of this. I finally found one in a collection that was recently released on Kindle Unlimited

The concept was definitely interesting, though culturally I’m not sure how well it’ll stand with more modern thoughts on the creature. Though it was a good creature feature. If this story continues to stick around, I’d recommend it for sure

Post thinking on it addition:
I do appreciate the following to the folklore in this short story

This was a fast read, even for a short story. The writing is smooth and the plot keeps you interested throughout the whole book.
The story is told entirely through blog posts, e-mails, texts and transcriptions. I had never read anything of this kind and it really surprised me how much I enjoyed it.

I'm definitely picking up another one of his books this Halloween.

I love a good scare and Nick Clausen's Human Flesh one gave me chills for sure! While the format (done as exhibits from the case file) put me off a little, I really like the fact that it's not your typical vampire, ghost, or werewolf horror story. There aren't a lot of stories (in my experience) based around some of the truly horrific, nightmare-inducing, perfect-for-stormy-(winter) nights monsters, so to discover that this monster was none other than a wendigo was a nice twist.

It was a fun read with a good goosebumps quotient; I'll definitely be reading more by this author.

Two siblings are headed to Maine to spend their winter vacation with their grandfather. But he doesn't show up at the train station. Catching a ride to his house, things start to get weird when they arrive. The house is freezing and grandpa isn't dressed, lost in thought gazing out the window.

Told through police evidence and blog stories, we get a look at the winter break for Otha and Hugh, as they watch their grandfather's behavior get more and more bizarre. They've heard rumors of their grandfather's odd behavior, but this is more, so much so. Something is out there, and if the kids don't find help, they could be next.

So the thing I've come to love about Clausen is that he gives you a great, creepy, horror story in a little package, and he delivers a 5-star read in Human Flesh. It's dark and mysterious, it's creepy, and it's a perfectly packaged wild ride of horror. Very well done.

First things first, I loved the cover, it's so promising, that was what got me attaracted to it in the first place. Kudos to whoever designed it. Loved how the story gradually build up and the way it was told was thoroughly enjoyable. All the characters were believable and I felt for all of them. The ending was kinda sad and gut wrenching but it was perfect and I couldn't imagine a better ending to the story.

Thanks to the author for providing me with an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A truly chilling tale

I came after his book via a recommendation on a Facebook page devoted to horror books, and am I ever glad I found it. Equal parts original and creepy, Human Flesh is a must read.

Welp, That Was A Story

I don't know, it was alright. It was too short for any real character development. I usually enjoy stories composed of communications and archived materials, but this time it just didn't hit with me.

This is exactly what I was hoping for.

I love found footage. I love cryptids and folklore and horror. This was the perfect mix of the three. It was so good I had to finish it in my lunch break at work. Well done, Sir. You have successfully pulled me out of my reading slump with this one.

i adore the Wendigo folklore so was defiantly interest from the start. It was smooth, quick to the point and easy to read, perfect for a story before bed. I would have enjoyed a bit more depth into it to increase the horror factor.
