If you’re just looking for a time waster, it’s a decent enough book to read. It moves at a fairly brisk pace and is easy to put down and pick up when time allows. But this book thinks it’s making a salient point about abuse of power when really it’s just rehashing territory that better books have covered. Neither of the female MCs are given much personality and one of them, a victim of her own circumstance and unwilling to acknowledge it, is complacent in her hurting other people while projecting a “woe is me” attitude.

This is the kind of book that would’ve been given a movie of the week in 1985 (Farrah Fawcett playing the rich, abused wife) and aside from the cell phones, it seems plucked straight from that era. It’s like the last almost 40 years have never happened and regular people can still easily trade plane tickets at the airport and try to disappear.

I kinda love the direction this book decided to take itself in. There was no violent attack scene or unrealistic finding-spouse-without-much-evidence confrontation. It was larger discussion on societal issues with two strong female leads. And that ending... I almost sobbed.

Attention grabbing

This book was filled with twists and turns, but easy to follow. I cried a little at the ending. Read it, you won’t regret it.

The storyline kept me interested in what the outcomes were going to be for the characters. The beginning started out strong & the ending was also nail biting but the middle dragged a bit. A few of those chapters could have been condensed to speed the story along. The ending left me a bit confused but it was overall satisfying.

Two women switching plane tickets. Both trying to leave behind a life of struggles and abuse.
Loved the ending. Very good thriller.
