The book started out as a 'who kidnapped and framed Sarah?' and then spins itself into the most wholesome yarn of wish fullfillment possible. Sarah's errant younger brother is single? Well, let's get him married off in the last 70 pages! And resolve every remaining homophobic character's issues (because ain't love grand?) And make everyone financially secure via work and magic inheritances. And given medals and awards like an OBE and Presidential Medal.
It was as if Gay Hallmark wrote a 'spy' novel where no one was actually very good at their job. (What? You mean you're related to that (in)famous family? And you... No one noticed your connections to all of this, despite the massive 'hint' (in actuality statement) earlier in the book?)
