Holy shit. Wasn't sure what to expect going in, but this was a favorite of mine. It felt so real and lifelike. I liked how the characters and situations felt based in reality, along with how life is all in gray spaces - there's seldom a perfect person, situation, etc. and Niffenegger did a great job of portraying the morally grey areas of people, their faults, and their strengths. This book was VERY hard to put down and through and through felt so seamless.

The Time Traveler's Wife is a Good, Sad Book that made me sad because it's pretty and you should Read it.

Pros:
Concept
Difficult plot that the author was able to simplify
Non-linear
Writing style
Captivating / no doldrums
Starting chapters with ages of main characters
Character development, which allowed for an emotional connection through joy and sorrow
The last few chapters

Cons:
May have been longer than necessary

Fav Quote: “Don't you think it's better to be extremely happy for a short while, even if you lose it, than to be just okay for your whole life?”
emotional fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes

What a brilliant novel, I couldn’t put this down and read through it in a couple of days! This is a beautiful romance plagued with uncertainty and tragedy. Niffenegger’s prose is so interesting and the way she brings together all of the different time slots is explosive by the end of the novel, every little memory of Henry and Claire has an important place. There are times of incredible beauty and times of incredible sadness but you fall in love with Henry and Claire, Henry being the most loveable of rogues. It explores the limits of what we can love and how soon this love can start to blossom. You really feel for Henry’s inability to control his time travel and throughout the novel you long for him to find a way to anchor himself to his present, to live a normal life with the woman he loves. But it is of course this time travel that makes this story so unusual and so indulgent. This novel is much deserving of its popularity, and it is definitely one of a kind!
