It's a shame that I read this so soon after reading The Strain Trilogy as I couldn't help but compare the two stories. Then again, the market is oversaturated with tales of vampirism, so it's hard not to compare and contrast. The vampires from Midnight Mass even compare themselves to those from Anne Rice's novels!

Although I preferred The Strain, I did enjoy Midnight Mass. At times, I worried it was getting to be a bit too religious for my liking, but I did appreciate the philosophical debates that came from the continued analysis of religion in a vampire-run world. That being said, some of those debates and discussions left a lot of unanswered questions in terms of the lore of this world. And although I found Part One to be just okay, I found that things really picked up and got interesting in Part Two. Given how the story ends, I wouldn't even mind reading a sequel.
