I really enjoyed this book! The story was really interesting, I loved how unusual the characters were and oh my gosh do I have a soft spot for Gurn!
I think this is my second book by Grace Draven and I really like how she writes heroines that aren’t your typical beauties. The relationships are based on who the people are not what they look like which is like, hugely, immensely refreshing!

A thoroughly enjoyable read despite some quirks and flaws of style that repeatedly drew me out of the story. Prose was a little too purple, metaphors were a little too novel. Fortunately, it was the most outrageous in the first couple of chapters. After that the style settled down a bit and you could get into the story. Nothing that a good professional editor couldn't have fixed, which is why I don't read that many self-published works.
This was such a good book, the relationship was beautiful and I love that the woman loved wasn't some beautiful woman but she was made so by the man who loved her and that made me feel touched by their love. The author was good at making the story full of emotions, at times I really smiled or cried and was deeply satisfied by the outcome. Only thing that could be noted in criticism is how slow the beginning seemed but when it started picking up it was a page turner for me

This book is just SO incredible, and checks off every single thing that I love to read about. Hate to love slow burn romance. Underestimated and smart FMC. Brooding and disrespectful MMC. Magic that is easy to follow but still interesting. And the writing is just spectacular. Sad to have waited so long to read this but it came to me when I needed it most !!
