Another great book by Beatriz Williams! She is such a great storyteller. This was a fantastic summer read that kept surprising me even when I thought I had it all figured out!

I’m leaving this at a 5 star read since it was a reread; I didn’t expect it to be as thrilling as the first read since I still remembered a lot that happened.

I am in love with Nick Greenwald. This story was just as good as I remembered. There were some things that weren’t as exciting to me since I’ve read it before but I still enjoyed it so much. There were two big twists that I didn’t remember. This is a fabulous story & I couldn’t recommend it enough!!

A good beach read. Light, predictable, contrived but the story was engaging. I liked Kiki best of all the characters, I think.

Such a fun read- much like a soap opera! A little spicy and mysterious at times. It keeps you on your toes and you just want more. I loved Lily from the beginning and Nick was just as dreamy. So much character depth as well. Aunt Julie was always the perfect comedic relief. I just can’t get over how much I loved this.

For me, my love of Beatriz Williams books stems from the delightful mix of drama and Hallmark Channel approved schmaltz wrapped up in a historical setting.

A Hundred Summers has all the well loved, Williams-approved tropes: family drama, the leading lady pining over her love and the romantic interest being an honorable, dashing gentleman. However, I found it to be on the side of too schmaltzy and the drama boarding on the side of being dumb (the family ‘secrets’ in this book..... I think it’s too generous to call them secrets. They’re rather more like acknowledged obvious truths). I also thought that everything ended a little too neatly and conveniently.

Even this physical manifestation of a ‘meh’ book is not going to stop me from reading the rest of her back catalogue.

Would highly recommend this book (especially the audio version). Purchased from Audible.com and could not bring myself to pause at any time – the story was well written and the performer, Kathleen McInerney was excellent. I was still listening at the wee hours of the morning as, you cannot wait to find out what happens during the storm as it was described in such detail you imagine yourself in the setting.

I am always intrigued with eras of the 20s, 30s, and 40s. As The Great Gatsby, there is so much glam, wealth, jealousy, romance, best friends, drinking/smoking, affairs, loss of money, stock market crash, suicide, scandals, etc…..Always love the city/coastal connection and so many secrets. Would love to see a movie based on this novel.

I look forward to reading more from this author, and have already purchased Overseas, as it sounds like another winner!
