An accounting of the bombing of Hiroshima told through six survivors’ story of that day as beautiful as it is chilling and horrifying. A normal morning in Hiroshima. A flash in the sky. Then chaos.
Let us pray such events as Hiroshima and Nagasaki never come to pass again. Would recommend to anyone.

The fates of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have always shocked me ever since I first learned about the World War in elementary school. I still vaguely remember the realisation that the humanity (and pretty much all life) could be wiped out by man-made weapons, that there were so many nuclear weapons that using them would be the end of all.
I've visited Hiroshima twice and the Peace Museum once. It's such a sombre experience that stays with you forever. Hiroshima by Hersey recounts the stories of several people who survived the war, but whose lives were irreversibly changed by the imminent destruction, radiation sickness as well as discriminatory politics that persisted for decades.
