I read many many unbelievable romance books. Unbelievable in terms of hidieous characters, lousy plot, cringe worthy chemistry. And when I started Forgiving Lies, I just have to stop.

The story of sexual assault victim acting like nothing is wrong is just... well... wrong. It does not sit well with me. Rachel attitude toward Candice is also nausiating. How come after Candice point blank told Racher she does not believe Rachel, Rachel is still living with her??

I just can not put my head around this. That is just the moment I stop.

I definitely got more then I bargained for this with book. I'm a sucker for any book with an undercover cop who falls in love while on the job. So when I read that, I knew this was the book for me. And I was right. I really did enjoy it. What I didn't expect was the seriousness of some parts. Rape, stalking, attempted murder.. All things I didn't expect to find but did which totally made a good story even better.

Only one problem for me but it's a big one. Cliffhanger.

I absolutely LOVE Molly McAdams. She has such a distinct writing style and is a fabulous storyteller. This was the first book that I ever read by her and I was instantly a fan.

Unlike Taking Chances and From Ashes this story is not wrapped up in just one book. Matter of fact, it ends on a pretty big cliffhanger that makes you immediately want to go out and buy Deceiving Lies (which is fabulous by the way). First things first let's talk about Logan Kash Ryan. Because he is my latest book boy obsession. He's tall, dark, handsome, and completely yummy (even though in real life someone as intimidating as him would have me running the opposite direction).

So a character rundown:
Kash : swoon and drooling
Rachel : lovable sour patch
Mason (Kash's best friend and police partner): big teddy bear
Candace (Best friend of Rachel): Ugh and ggrrrr
Blake (Candace's cousin): Creepy as frick

This book has so many conflicts going at once but they are woven in a way that the plot flows smoothly instead of being one big disjointed mess (which it had every potential to be just that). This story is told from alternating POV which I love because I love seeing both sides of the story. Once again, McAdams makes you feel everything that the characters feel. This book had suspense in it and I remember reading when reading it the first time the thought process when I realized who the serial killer was (oh yeah, that happens).

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone. Honestly, top 5 favorite book of all time. I'm convinced McAdams can't write anything less than spectacular.

Forgiving Lies is a great book with tons of action, but it felt a little sloppy, and the cliffhanger was like an afterthought. Almost like, "all done, oh let me throw this in so they read the next book." It's worth reading, but I don't think it stands out as much as Taking Chances did.

Rachel and her best friend Candice (who I thought was a total bitch) are living, and attending school in Texas. When they meet their new neighbors Kash and Mason, Candice is her typical whoreish self, but Rachel is even more reserved than normal. After all that she has been through at the hands of men she is in no way interested in a relationship.
Kash and Mason are working undercover, and though he knows it's a bad idea to get involved with someone while on assignment, there is no forgetting Rachel.

***Spoilers***
The two of them hook up and become inseparable after many weeks of friendship, and fighting their feelings. Rachel tells Kash about Blake West, Candi's cousin who raped her. When the guys notice someone hanging around the girls apartment, they try to keep the girls away to protect them. Kash ends up taking Rachel away for the weekend when things get scary. Though it isn't planned, Kash ends up proposing to Rachel, and she agrees. Blake is behind the creepy guy, and when he shows up demanding she come with him, or he will kill her friends and family she agrees. Kash almost doesn't get to her in time, and after finding her he, Mason, and Blake are all shot in the process. Blake had it set up where he wouldn't go to prison for his crimes, he would rather die. Rachel was cut all over her body, including the words "mine" cut into her skin. She can't forgive Kash for lying to her about who he was and he eventually goes back to Florida. Mason, and Candie are both tired of the two of them being miserable, and set up a way for Mason to tell her everything. Once she realizes that Kash had no other choice, and that he is just as miserable as she is, she goes to him. They work it all out, but at the end of the book Rachel is kidnapped by the gang Kash helped take down as an undercover narcotics agent. (See a little too much.) The gang leaves word that they want all charges dropped, and if it's not done within a month they will kill her.

What the! Cliffhanger! LOVE IT glad I waited to read them together :)

Just finished this and I'm all giddy - far too giddy for 8am on a Wednesday morning, but good books have that kind of power.

Forgiving Lies had a real Kristen-Ashley-does-NA vibe that I just ate right up. The alternating POVs, an alpha male with a heart of gold, a tragic backstory, the slightly belief-beggaring suspense element and the fun supporting cast were all present and accounted for.

AND THE ENDING. GAH. How am I supposed to carry on with my Wednesday after that?!

I enjoyed this story but it was extremely predictable. I didn't expect how serious this book would get or how many triggers would be in here for someone that has experienced rape/violence. And how can you not hate her best friend Candice? Barf. We will see what book 2 brings!

Ok, this book totally redeemed any problems I had with the author after reading Taking Chances. Review to come on Lisa Loves Literature soon.

I will say that when I read this book last year (i know I am late with the review, i am sorry!) I hadn't to read anything from Molly McAdams before, but I am so glad I picked up this book because I loved it! Forgiving Lies is a New Adult novel, but I do think that it has some Adult aspects to it as well, which I think made me like even more.

We follow Rachel, who is dealing with a secret that is tearing her apart, and it is not until she meets Kash that everything around seems to crumble and dissolve away. But Kash has a secret of his own, and it will take everything he has not to reveal to Rachel because he knows that it will tear them apart.

What I think I liked the most about this book was the dual perspectives. I am a sucker for those because I love seeing two sides to the same story. It gives depth to the story, and honestly I like seeing how the guys feels during a love story. Its a very unique perspective that I think needs to be explored more, and I am glad that in New Adult, this is something that is explore more than not.

Both Rachel and Kash were extremely likable characters who had great personalities and I loved their interactions because they were sarcastic and funny, and it just seemed real. Their chemistry on teh page was amazing to read and the love scenes were extremely well done. They were not doing just for the sake of having sex, there was emotion behind it and it made sense, so I loved that.

Because of the this book I will be a Molly McAdams fan for life, I cannot wait to get into more of her work, and if you haven't read my review of Needing Her: A Novella, read it here. It is just as amazing as this book!
