In 1996 thirteen year old Lenni disappears while walking towards the ice cream parlor. Her older sister Claire was in charge and has lived with the guilt since. Now at present time Claire’s dad has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and in an effort to revive his memories of the good times they all shared,Claire decides to have a reunion. But during the reunion when another girl disappears under the same circumstances as Lenni old secrets , guilt and resentments come tumbling out in this engaging thriller.

The Reunion is an entertaining psychological thriller by Samantha Hayes told by different POV’s. The book starts a little slow as we come to know all the characters but the tension soon builds up in the second half and the twists and turns keep coming. Samantha Hayes does a great job throwing suspicion on different characters leading to a jaw dropping ending.

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free From Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book. I thought the premise was quite interesting and I really loved the cover. I've not read anything by this author before but my interest had definitely been peaked.

This story follows Claire as she tries to organise a reunion of her closest friends. Her poor dad who was like a second father to her friends has Alzheimer's and she's hoping that this reunion will help him to remember. At first I wasn't sure about Claire but after a few chapters I came around to her. By the end I felt wretched for her and everything she goes through.

I found the first 40% of this book quite slow.  It was story building and very necessary but after about 40% things really sped up.  There was a lot going on in the second half of the book and I struggled to put it down even to feed myself.

Samantha did an excellent job at keeping the mystery alive throughout the book. My suspicious mind was kept very busy. Every time I thought I knew who took poor Eleanor there would be something that would cast a doubt and I would be back to guessing all over again.

The story was an interesting one and different to what I expected. I really enjoyed the journey that Samantha took me on and I look forward to reading more of Samantha's books in the future.

3.5 stars. Really did enjoy this book but I wish there was 1 or 2 more chapters at the end to explain more.

Boring. Boring. Borrrring. If it takes me over a week to finish a book, 90% of the time it’s because I’m hating it. This book is tagged as a “gripping psychological thriller”, but for me it was anything but. The characters were flat and one dimensional, and the plot read more like a bad Lifetime movie than a thriller. Don’t even get me started on the ending.. so predictable and unrealistic.

I’m disappointed because with all of the high ratings this book has received, I really thought I’d love it. It seems I’m the unpopular opinion, but I’d say to definitely skip this one!

This was a solidly OK read, I suppose. I skimmed quite a lot, after getting frustrated with the lag, the typos, and the millions of characters who never seemed to be fully fleshed out. The plot was decent, I suppose, but I guessed where it was going before I got there. I started this review with two stars and just knocked it down to one after realizing I didn't get much out of this at all. Disappointed. Received this as an ARC from Netgalley.

I finished this over a week ago but struggled with a rating. It was a good story and mystery but just so disturbing in so many ways. It feels wrong to "like" it but it clearly left an impression as I couldn't shake it out of my mind and kept cussing at characters!

Woman calls together her childhood friends for a long reunion week as a way to help reignite memories for her father who has been diagnosed with alzheimers. It's the anniversary of the disappearance of her sister many years ago.

I don't know what this book wanted to be, romancy? teen romance? Suspense? murder mystery? missing person book? It just didn't seem to get settled into one or the other, or perhaps all of them and that's why it felt a bit cluttered to me. None of the main characters resonated with me, or clicked with me. I didn't feel engaged in the story and so I skimmed through much of the last half of the book.

I've found that this author's stories tend to create opposite reactions in me - I will really enjoy a story, "What You Left Behind" or will give two thumbs down, like this one and "Until You're Mine". I gave this Two stars because, well I at least stuck with it.

Ugh I thought this book would never end! It just seemed to get dragging on and on, and was hard to follow at certain points. I could not wait for it to be over. I don't understand how this book had excellent reviews because it just did not do that for me. The one good thing about it would probably be the major plot twist at the end, I'll give it that.. was not expecting it to end the way it did and figure out who was responsible for their trouble. However, I probably wouldn't recommend this book to anyone after reading. Sorry, just wasn't for me. Glad it's finally over.
