I read this book in the wrong season  for its prose to really call out to me as it probably should and honestly, I  really struggled to get through it. Nevertheless, I can acknowledge it's a good book. It's intricate and heart-wrenching in a way that feels very vulnerable. Keeghan beautifully describes how a life spent working non-stop can disguise you from yourself; your emotions, your desires and your fears. This is a message I could relate to, but I can imagine relating to even more once I've lived more of my life. Therefore, I really feel like this is a book I should reread when I'm older... and it's Christmas time.

The book is about the choices one makes, regardless of the consequences and validation of the majority. It’s about empathy, hope, humanity, love, and beyond. It’s a small book with only 115 pages but the impact is much more. The writing is beautiful, elegantly put, and gives a stark message about kindness and compassion. It reminded me of Hemingway’s writing - simply compelling, extremely impactful, and beautifully articulated. The words will go straight into your heart, immaculately put and so so provocative.

Please give it a read. It’s a beautiful book with a profound message.
