Utterly delightful, and yet a tiny bit heartbreaking, too. Wouldn't have missed it for the world!

I loved this book when I read it few years ago.

I cried like hell by the end of the book, the author’s style in writing made me feel like I was a part of the story. It was a very good, well written emotional book.

I would recommend it to anyone interested in fashion, or anyone who ever wanted something so bad that they gave up everything just to get what they want, because they might learn a thing or two from this story.

Mrs Harris is a salt-of-the-earth London charlady who cheerfully cleans the houses of the rich. One day, when tidying Lady Dant's wardrobe, she comes across the most beautiful thing she has ever seen in her life - a Dior dress. In all the years of her drab and humble existence, she's never seen anything as magical as the dress before her and she's never wanted anything as much before. Determined to make her dream come true, Mrs Harris scrimps, saves and slaves away until one day, after three long, uncomplaining years, she finally has enough money to go to Paris. Along with pension, the money she wins from gamble and the ring she make sure reach back to real owner which was expensive.

When she arrives at the House of Dior, Mrs Harris has little idea of how her life is about to be turned upside down and how many other lives she will transform forever. Always kind, always cheery and always winsome, the indomitable Mrs Harris takes Paris by storm and learns one of life's greatest lessons along the way. Everyone have an identity, and how we present it to people and make them realise your worth is important when they challenge your integrity.

This treasure from the 1950s introduces the irrepressible Mrs Harris, part charlady, part fairy-godmother, whose adventures take her from her humble London roots to the heights of glamour. She returned to her roots and changed ger life for good instead of getting bullied for being nice to others

A fantastic, short read (though I took my time to really enjoy it). Some things you'll see coming a mile away, but there are a few shocks too. I found myself smiling as I read (and tearing up too). I wanted to read this before seeing the movie, but now I want to seek out the other books in the series too.

Anyway, Pamela, ponele.
Nooooo, no chabón. Forro.

Flowers for Mrs Harris by Paul Gallico was an absolute gem; a new go-to comfort read!

You start your reading experience a bit confused by its little protagonist (an elderly cockney cleaning lady) and then, before you know it, just like the supporting characters, you fall in love with her endearing and caring ways.

I will say that Gallico pulls a fast one on us at the end that had my suddenly shooting up in my seat with utter distress but ultimately Mrs Harris warms your cockles.

A must read if you need a pick-me-up from what is in essence a gentle hug of a book.
