Thoroughly entertaining and comforting read. Silly and sciency.

I’ll review this book by quoting the author: “It’s a pop song. It’s meant to be light and catchy, with three minutes of hooks and choruses for you to sing along with, and then you’re done and you go on with your day, hopefully with a smile on your face.” Mission accomplished, Scalzi.

This is my second John Scalzi book and it definitely will not be my last. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi but his books have been so fun and accessible, at least so far.

I'm 1/3 into the book and nothing has happened yet. I would probably continue reading if I didn't hate the writing style so much--Scalzi seems to forget he's writing a novel, not a sitcom. I was reading this with a book club group and my friends seemed to love it, but it just wasn't for me.

Edit: Decided to pick it back up because a different bookclub was reading it. I liked the final chapters because the action finally picks up. This was a great book, just not at all my type of humor.
