Preferred the first half to the second!! Some really beautiful passages about female friendship which really resonated with me, especially since one of my best friends sent me it in the post after I finished uni!🩷 Very progressive considering it was written more than a hundred years ago. It’s a shame that they weren’t just able to enjoy being in Italy without the interruption of all the husbands.
slow-paced
I did not like this book. It was difficult to follow, and I never really knew what was happening. I really wasn't sure what the point of the story was. Also, I felt like it ended very abruptly with no resolution to the storyline.

My enjoyment of this book varied wildly through the whole thing. Two of the women seemed bound and determined to be absolutely awful, and then when the men start showing up I got extra irritated. Strangely, I think I liked it overall, but I won't be reading it again.
Also, I think the endingwas meant to be happy, but who knows if any of those personal changes would stick around for daily life?
Also, I think the ending
