In the middle of a re-read and this, for me, is the weakest thus far. Feels like a whisy-washy attempt at building towards what the plot for this next arc is going to be and dropping some of the more interesting character explorations for less interesting things to give New A something to report on. Like Emily struggles with grappling the end of Ali yet it's nearly all forgotten once Isaac enters the picture, and while Hanna's grief for Mona is more prominent and well done, I wish there was more. The adults still primarily suck--feels like there wasn't a lot of an idea for Aria so the plot rehashed Erza in a different way. My biggest issue was feeling like I kept re-reading the same thing over and over again. The same scene with Ali is repeated like a dozen times--more repetitive than any of the flashbacks in the previous books. Although it wasn't a fav, I managed to finish it rather quickly and found myself invested in multiple parts. As someone who already remembers a lot of the ending to this arc, it feels almost too obvious where it's heading and with Ian. Here's to hoping the next is better. And please, can some of these parents/adults start to get better?

While this series is never really boring, this is where things start feeling like the story is dragging along.  There is decent character development happening but the same drama remains.

Okay, I think I'm starting to feel fatigue from this story/series. I was pretty...bored during this one, hence why I have rated this one the lowest out of the series so far. None of the arcs gripped my attention (if I had to choose a favorite from this one it'd be Hanna just because she always brings the drama haha). Hopefully it picks back up for me!
