I definitely think I will enjoy the movie, but I’m pretty sure I’m too dumb for these books… loved the ending, but up until about the 75% mark I just wasn’t interested in the story and the cast of characters still confuse me.

Agatha Christie has a reputation for cheating, but this is ridiculous. Several crucial clues are known only to Poirot and are deliberately kept from the reader. I won't say it's impossible to solve this mystery yourself, but Christie has absolutely stacked the deck against you.
