“this is their language and not mine”

“but why should mathematics be applied to something as precious as flesh”

I don’t typically enjoy poetry, however the accessibility of this collection is what drew me in.

I thought it interesting that the authors voices & stories were often co-opted for the benefit of other people; particularly women & their sexuality.

There are so many words to describe this collection of poetry. Powerful, yet delicate. Beautiful, breathtaking and at the same time heartbreaking. A truly incredible collection.

I don't read a lot of poetry, but I really liked this. I'll have to read it again at some point

It’s just one of those books to have on your shelf. It’s definitely a read for any time period of life. Just who we are as Black folks.
