I tried to read between the lines but all I saw were the lines he took while writing this. In its cultural context, this was definitely an interesting read and I like Jim Morrison's mind but sometimes I just had no idea wtf he was talking about.

my first book of poetry!

"The Lords" is pure genius and the potential reader should pick up a copy just for this section. However, "The New Creatures" isn't very good to put it lightly.
dark emotional reflective relaxing slow-paced

Thought-provoking and trippy poetry from the lead singer of the Doors. Morrison has philosophies and critiques that are arranged in very creative ways in this enjoyable read.

Being jim morrison and being this described as "erotic" I envisioned something different.

I enjoyed reading it tho...

Probably reading it on my commute wasn't the best setting. I'll read it again later.

At first I was very excited to have some insight into Jim Morrison’s mind. After reading his poetry collections compiled here I have to say I was disappointed. Most of the poems made little sense and had lots of imagery that had to be deciphered. His mind was very interesting but I didn’t enjoy the read much.

Morrison's writing brings up so many emotions, it's impossible not to feel something when reading his work. Especially the section titled 'The Lords,' I began to feel anxious, malicious, spaced out, and feelings as if the edge were encroaching upon me. An absolutely wonderful and quick read.
