Fuck, that was dark. Joe Abercrombie knows how to write, but by now I know that everything is dark and Bayaz is in charge . It was so dark, I put it down for a while at about 50%.

I'm giving this one 3.5 stars. The good news is that Joe Abercrombie is still a master at writing characters with grit and personality. These are people I would never want to meet, and yet they are fleshed out so well. The bad news is this was my least favorite Abercrombie that I've read so far. I think the setting had a lot to do with it. There wasn't a lot of movement and so I got a bit bored being in the same place for the entire book. Secondly, I know Joe isn't known for his plot, but this one felt like even less plot than the rest. It just felt redundant sometimes. Because of this, it took me a long time to read it. I just kept getting bored!
