Apparently Feast Of Crows is a weaker entry in this series on reputation but its still an easy five stars for me and that's despite some of our favourite characters missing it was still a riveting read. It also focuses on some characters that would be regarded as minor in the story up to now so small that I had to google who they were.

Like many fans my money is on George RR Martin never finishing this series but I for one still think its worth reading and its still one of the best fantasy series ever written even if we never get blown away by the Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring will remain just that.

This book was not as action-packed as the others but I still really liked it. It's a lot more political, especially the chapters on Cersei. If you're not interested in the minutia of politics, this probably won't be your favorite of the series. This book focuses a lot more on character building than the previous ones, which I really liked.

This is the least interesting book of the series so far. Mostly because it feels like it's irrelevant. We could have done with a brief summary of most of the events described here at length and would be none the worse for it.

That being said, I loved parts of this book. It's very much about women, in all sorts and places and with all kinds of power. I love Brienne, loved Dorne, like Sansa and Cersei (as a read. Cersei is an utter bitch as a person). I could have done with less Iron Islands. I admit to skipping some of those parts.
