It was truly amazing to see how Constanta evolves as a person and realizes how all of them are the victims to narcissistic and manipulative Dracula. Its a story that makes us readers see how difficult it is to see an abuser for who they are when you are the object of their maltreatment.

Exactly what I think happens with most polyamorous relationships

A gorgeous and evocative retelling of Dracula from his first bride's perspective. I love how the format is her writing directly to Dracula as her audience -- as a means of both record-keeping and therapy. It's very refreshing to see a complex polyamorous relationship represented, but one fraught with trauma at being manipulated by the head of house for centuries. I loved exploring each of the brides' reactions to Dracula's devious tyranny; they all felt very much alive (despite being dead). The story and prose were so beautifully crafted, I could barely put it down, and continue to think about it to this day.

Ugh this book was delicious. The writing was seductive and dark. Everything I think of when I think of vampires.
