I loved this book and the characters! The world building was amazing it was a bit of a slow burn but so worth it! Jane harbors so many secrets and has walls taller than the highest mountain. That is until she meets her handsome Soren. Slowly but surely these two catch feelings and eventually some secrets escape both . There was spicy scenes. Her past eventually catches up to her and I was about to through my phone because I need book 2 like yesterday. I was lucky enough to snag this on audiobook and let me just say the male narrators voice was so dreamy and did a spectacular job with all the male characters. The female narrator did a great job with all the female characters . The songs between the chapters was interesting. I enjoyed this immensely!

I was kind of disappointed with this
I didn’t expect the main guy to be how he was (kind of a fuckboy) and the way they had sex so soon threw me off…..

I definitely judged this book by the title/cover. . . and I--naturally--have a thousand regrets. If I didn't have an early morning the next day, I would've DEVOURED this entire book in one sitting. Mallory's writing is just... ugh--perfect??

**This is the first installation of a duet and is being released September 19th, 2023.**

The Secrets of Jane captivated my attention from the get go with her worldbuilding and pacing. I loved the short temper and badassery from Jane, the FMC. I stand behind any strong female lead and Mallory did a great job of portraying her feisty independence while still keeping her kind. Her moments of weakness were perfectly selected and all the whispers of doubt were feasible so you could truly grasp her thought process.

Don't even get me started on Soren, the MMC. WHEW! He's rough, masculine, and yet understanding. He doesn't completely change for Jane and I appreciate that the author kept him true to his core but allowed him to express his interest/love in ways that suited him.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND for NA readers who love dark romantasy with badass MCs. The grungy world lowkey gave me Skyrim and Witcher vibes (which who doesn't love?). I will be keeping a lookout for book 2 and buying this series for my shelves.

I received this title as an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to BookSirens, Charlotte Mallory and Owlery Publications for the opportunity to read this treasure!

Dark romance 🤝 fantasy

I really enjoyed the characters in this one. It read as an easy fantasy, not a complicated world to understand. Was more on the dark romance side of things and I really enjoyed it.

The characters had great banter, the 🌶️ scenes were well done, I can’t wait to see what happens in book two!

This book was so much fun to read!! I had a hard time putting it down.

If you love a kickass FMC and a morally grey MMC, this is a book for you!!

I really fell in love with the characters and cannot wait to learn more about Jane and Soren.

A good amount of spice but not so much that it sacrifices the plot.

A terrible cliffhanger at the end to make sure we pick up the next book!!
