I really enjoyed this manga. Some parts are funny, some are dark and tragic. Mixed in are details about space travel that I didn’t realize.
There are great characters and two are well-developed. I’ll probably read the next volume to see where this story is going.

I like this story over Vinland Saga. It's a bit quieter and looser but Makoto Yukimura's expressions and attention to detail still shine.

This was my first Manga and it was fun. I liked his futuristic job was in space debris (as a person who spent a lot of time working on that) but I found the main character highly annoying. Some of the stories worked more for me than others so maybe more a mix of 4s and 2s.

I can't believe this is a debut manga! Dynamic artwork accompanies a sophisticated near-future SF story that's part space adventure, part slice-of-life comic.
Seriously, this is so beautifully drawn. After I finish Planetes, I'm looking forward to checking out Vinland Saga.

This is a promising start to this sci-fi manga series. The characters feel real, going through grief, addiction, self-doubt, and the ways that those things interact with the harshness of living in space. Yukimura does some great, detailed worldbuilding through describing what drives people to space and the lives they end up living there. He uses this musing and philosophical tone to give the stage-setting you usually find in first volumes a sense of story and purpose. This volume isn’t brimming with action, but it’s a charming start to a series I’m excited to continue.

This book is a Manga Series and the story is Scientific Fiction. If you are new to Manga, I would not recommend this book to start with.
This review is spoiler-free...
This Manga, as every other Manga has great artwork, characters are good but I didn't get a sense in the story in Volume 1.
So the story when I previewed, it was interesting. Earth has become so science advance, people from Earth do space travel, go to other Planets and Galaxies to mine minerals which were exhaust/ Not available on Earth. In the process, As we humans are good at polluting, we also pollute space by Debris. So this story is about a team of Astronauts who are responsible for cleaning this debris.
For me, Volume 1 was pretty bland as there was not much happening, but I do think this story may change from Volume 2 as something was interesting happening in the last 10-15 pages. But as Volume 1 it was bland so 2 stars.
