Lately I have not had the best of luck when it came to reading books published way before my time.
[b:The Lost World|10155|The Lost World (Professor Challenger, #1)|Arthur Conan Doyle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320504012l/10155._SY75_.jpg|1098725] - first published in 1912, [b:The War of the Worlds|8909|The War of the Worlds|H.G. Wells|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320391644l/8909._SY75_.jpg|3194841] - first published in 1898, while wild and radical for the time, I found them almost lacking by todays sci-fi standard.
Having said that, I know these books paved the way for other books in this genre and no doubt played an integral role in literature as we know it today, but I am so used to being overly stimulated by books that these books just didn't do it for me.
So I opened 2001: A Space Odyssey ... hesitantly. Granted this book was first released in 1968, which is a far cry from 1898, in any case, I was not disappointed.
But then the book was over, and I had so many questions.
A lot happened in this book with zero explanation. Enter [b:2010: Odyssey Two|70539|2010 Odyssey Two (Space Odyssey, #2)|Arthur C. Clarke|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388271989l/70539._SY75_.jpg|615175], if you read the synopsis of this book is essentially lays out all the questions I had with 2001: A Space Odyssey and says that they will be answered.
So I will need to get my hands on that book.
