2.5 rounding down. I really wanted to like this book more. However, it didn't work for me, lots of unnecessary deaths, random exposition, and a plot which doesn't really go anywhere while the main characters are paper cutouts with no real personality at all. The only slightly interesting plot-line about HAL is resolved pretty early and the rest of it is supremely forgettable.

Not sure I'll read the rest.

Історія цікава, перший розділ має ще й сильні комічні елементи. Досить багато цікавих думок стосовно подорожей в космосі, чужоземного життя ітд, особливо враховуючи те, що книга вийшла в 60х роках

Space is cool!!!
challenging mysterious

This book was ahead of its time and though I’ve yet to see the movie, I’m excited to see how some of the scenes were portrayed. The story it self was a slow burn and at times very confusing, it took me until about half of the way through to figure out where the story was leading me and I ended up having to read the ending a few times. Overall I really enjoyed the story and it was well written and painted the visuals perfectly.
adventurous mysterious tense

still love hal
I was reading it because I thought it would make more sense than the movie
did the space child kill everyone? or is it up in the air?
loved the cold war commentary
tw: murder, violence, space, gore

A little slow at times, but a masterpiece in science fiction writing nonetheless.
