Another fun, fast paced mafia romance but I didn’t feel the connection between the characters that much.

⟡ Review ⟡
Alessandro, or Az, has been plotting his revenge against his wife’s killer for eight years. When he becomes Ravenna’s bodyguard, he becomes conflicted with carrying out his long planned revenge or pursuing his interest in her.
Ravenna was forced into the marriage and is secretly planning her escape from her abusive husband.
Just like in the other books in the series, the story is fast-paced and addictive. But I was wishing for more actual interaction between Ravenna and Alessandro. Sure, as her bodyguard he goes everywhere with her and they are watching each other while their interest in each other grows. But almost halfway through the book they have probably exchanged ten sentences.
Ravenna‘s husband is a piece of sh*it. Nothing more can be said.
“Does it make it okay, then, to be attracted to another man if my husband is a bastard?”
Yeah, for me it kinda does. The cheating element didn’t bother me.
And it’s always fun times to see some cameos of other characters, seeing Felix again was a treat, his exchanges with Alessandro were hilarious.
emotional
I will not lie it was quite difficult for me to get into this book for the first say 20 to 30% of the book because i kept on getting pissed at Ravenna's brother, who in my opinion should just unalive himself because he was soooo annoying. And especially that fake husband of hers who's name i've already forgotten because that's how irrelevant he was to me personally. But after the 30% mark I believe the book did it for me especially because i was simping hard over Alessandro. Not my fault Neva makes so easily simping-able men.
Classic revenge gone wrong, bodyguard trope. But so so good.

i haven’t read this trope in agessss, bodyguard trope!!!
ravenna - i loved that no matter what she didn’t break. rocco deserved to die for what he did to her.
alessandro - i don’t normally read books with divorced/widowed mmc but this one was good and written really well. i do feel so sorry for him and i can understand how he was really confused in his feelings towards ravenna.
onto the next..
