Honestly, disappointing with an F. I was obsessed with Alessandro in Salvatore's book, but I've been yet let down by a grumpy stone-cold man I thought I would love. This really had potential; bodyguard trope? Falling in love with someone you're supposed to kill and the "oH FUCK ME" realisation? A silent one-word man suddenly expressing how he feels? But this had everything I dislike about Mafia books: Testosterone all the way down. Gross.
It gets an extra star for the Sergei cameo <3333 MAN I love him. Also for introducing Kai, who's described as even MORE unhinged and maniacal than Sergei, so of cOURSE I'm obsessed with him now xoxo

I had a complected feelings toward this book

Honestly this book has been the better of the ones i’ve read recently. it’s still an age gap but doesn’t give us an exact age so i was unsure how just how big the gap is..
The book as a whole though wasn’t THAT bad like i said it’s the better ones of the ones i’ve read recently.
It was just a little too fast for me, I felt like if it was just a bit longer with more relationships development it could have been really good.
The books is only about 21 chapters and all the interactions between the FMC and the MMC are just the MMC observing her weird behavior.
There is no actually reason for why they like each other besides this unknown tension that’s mentioned.
He shows her basic human decency and doesn’t beat her and she’s all of a sudden in love with him ? It was weird to me
This also might be the first time i’ll ever say this but I really wanted the MMCs wife to be a bigger deal. Like I needed the MMC to have some type of feels left for her.
Because you don’t play an 8 year revenge for someone you no longer feel anything for?
They just played it off so nonchalantly like it was so normal.
The MMC is there to kill the FMC to avenge his wife and the MMC tells the FMC this and she’s like
“oh .. okay? let’s have sex again” and i wish that was an exaggeration.
She SAYS she’s not gonna let him in anymore because she’s so hurt but that statement is literally broken as soon as it leaves her mouth.
The MMC isn’t any better either, he spent all this time trying to avenge his wife and the second he kisses the FMC the plan is gone and it’s like “who even is my wife” even when he leaves the city and visits her grave, his final words are literally just “goodbye”
Like you think you’d have a lot more to say to the women you’ve planned an 8 year revenge for?!??
I think adding a little more angst their relationship and into the whole wife situation could have saved this book. Especially when he spent the last 8 years trying to figure out who killed her.

Ravenna is such a beautiful name, for not only a beautiful FMC, but a strong survivor such as this woman. I adored seeing her find the light at the end of the darkness. And having Alessandro find his own light along side her was magical. I hurt for both of them so much at times, but knew they were meant for each other. ´

I have a thing for damaged main characters.. the thing is that I love them. These characters were so lovable to me, even when trying to exact a murderous revenge plan. The epilogue was the using on the cake. The ending of this book was everything I could have wanted from this book and more.
