I liked this one but I feel like there was too much slow burn for the length of the book. I liked the plot but I feel like it could’ve been better.

Flabbergasted

Az oh how that man has been hurt! I’m so sad his wife died but I’m oh so glad he saved Ravianna! Glad they got a little baby too! His friends helping him carry out his plan even though there were many deviations along the way! Ravianna is strong like he said she is and I’m glad she got Alessandro under her spell and they both got there happily ever after! Loving every minute of this series!

"What I feel for you is greater than anything I’ve ever felt before, Ravenna. It’s like a beautiful blaze that consumes me, shining light on a darkness that has festered in my soul for so long. And I want to stay in this light forever if you’ll let me."

“I don’t think love is a strong enough term to describe what I feel for you, Ravi. I wish I could find the words to describe it. It’s like a beautiful flame engulfing my heart, which has transformed into full-blown burning madness. Everything else is insignificant to its light.”
“Then let’s burn together.”

the tension

So you ever read a book and it’s going pretty well and then a scene happens and you just don’t have fun anymore? I did enjoy this storyline at first. Ravenna is forced to marry a piece of crap mafia guy because her idiot brother can’t play cards. Alessandro has been waiting for years to kill this crap pile for years as he killed his wife. It was going to be a perfect revenge but then Alessandro’s cold heart warmed up after getting to know Ravenna. See? It starts off pretty good.

Then there comes some interactions with blood, dead bodies and the timing of these interactions that made me go…”what is happening here?” “Should someone wash their hands?” “Could that be brain matter on his shirt?”

Anyway it did come back around a bit at the end. I gave a star back for the Sergei appearance. I love that little psychopath.

dark emotional hopeful medium-paced

Least favourite couple of the series. They barely speak or interact but suddenly they’re in love. I mean I love the strong and silent types but Az takes it to the next level. There’s also too much of a juxtaposition of Ravena’s character, one minute she’s weak, the next strong. It’s too confusing. Enjoyed the epilogue showing them on the mission to rescue Kai. Would only read again as part of the series not because I enjoy the couples storyline.
